Lawson Performance was started to solve a key problem I kept running into as a strength and conditioning coach and researcher: I had a huge database of journal articles, saved resources, highlights and notes, but no central place to put them to work, or share them with others in the same boat.
This site is the answer to that.
This is a place for coaches, clinics, and sport organizations who want to bridge the gap between research and real-world performance. From return-to-sport testing systems to individualizing performance plans for the world’s top athletes, I’m sharing what I’ve built and learned over the past decade working with athletes across the LTAD spectrum.
I hope that it can provide value to you and your team.

The Team
Drew Lawson
Drew has been a strength coach with Freestyle Ski Canada and Canada Snowboard since obtaining his Bachelor of Kinesiology in 2018. In this time, he has predominately worked with halfpipe skiers and snowboarders at the National and National Development (Next-Gen) levels. Drew spends upwards of 4 months per year travelling with the halfpipe teams to training camps and competitions, leading off-snow training, monitoring on-snow volumes and collaborating with technical coaches on individual athlete training plans.
From 2018-2021 Drew completed his Masters of Science in Kinesiology with a specialization in Biomechanics from the University of Calgary in conjunction with the Canadian Sport Institute Alberta. His research focused on the effects of ACL reconstruction surgery using hamstring tendon autografts on lower body strength and single leg landing ability. You can find his thesis here.
In addition to his role as a strength and conditioning coach, Drew also led CSI Alberta’s Strength and Power Lab. This involved delivery of athlete testing, managing equipment workflow, staff onboarding and develop more streamlined analysis and reporting structures for the lab.

In his spare time, Drew can be found road biking or trying to find the best coffee in the world. Preferably, these two endeavours are intertwined.
